In a move that’s been expected for a little bit now, the Cubs have recalled Nick Madrigal from Triple-A Iowa. To make room on the roster, Miles Mastrobuoni was optioned.
Madrigal batted .488 with six doubles, three triples, one home run, seven RBI, and a shocking eight walks in 11 games on the farm. That’s slightly better than what he’d done with the big club, now it’s time to see if the confidence translates.
Mastrobuoni batted .161 with two doubles, one RBI and eight walks in 14 games with Chicago this season. In 18 games with Iowa, he hit .291 with five doubles, two triples and six RBI.
